In days gone by the local church was the customary meeting place for most of the members of the township. People from all walks of life came together under one roof to celebrate their god and join together as a united community. This led to many unions as one could be fairly guaranteed that each parishioner was generally of the same belief system. This in itself was a great way for young men and women to meet potentially future spouses. This would of course create ease for both parties when the subject of dating arose, generally in those days instigated by the men. Many religions today still encompass this traditional way even though times have changed considerably The beauty of dating someone with the same religious beliefs is that both parties involved will have a clear view as to the qualities they will each possess. Principles and morality will form the essence of their romantic involvement and if there is an attraction in place this couple would surely be off to a great start.
Even though the western world has welcomed modernisation in some churches, there are some religions that have never altered in their quest to remain exactly as they have been for centuries. The elders still insist their youth marry into their own religion even though there have been some attempts to modernise. The advantage of couples being formed based on their faith is that essential views of morality and principle are firmly in place and form a rock solid foundation for romantic love to build on. Such things can become an issue so quickly in relationships built only on the laws of physical attraction. Perhaps having a shared religion makes for a healthy start.
Dating someone from another religious background could turn out to be a very interesting experience. In days gone by families would have probably expressed their disapproval at this kind of union but today in western culture there is a more relaxed attitude. This probably would not apply to some of the more strict religions where the old ways are still very much in place even though the youth of today may be trying to modernise. Many marriages are a combination of different beliefs and are very successful which leads me to the common denominator in all of this
Love… it can take your breath away…. It can make saints out of sinners., laughter out of pain and a belief that God in his infinite wisdom has sent down an angel to walk by your side….forever. The story of Romeo and Juliet is etched in our history and hearts as a reminder that love can break your heart and lead you to even die for it. Romantic love, it is what we all dream of and pray for .it is the essence of God himself.
Even if you are deeply religious there is plenty of opportunity and places where you can meet Even though times have changed and a lot of the churches have modernised so as not to alienate the youth of today, the very foundation of faith will make that first date more relaxed than those couples with no common ground to work from.
